North Gate Swansea Pride in Place Gets Out Into the Community at Dyfatty Junction

As the new Neighbourhood Board takes shape, North Gate Swansea Pride in Place Chair Thom Lynch joined Rhys and the Dyfatty Junction team to meet local residents, listen and learn more about the community.

The North Gate Swansea Pride in Place Programme is still in its early stages. However, getting out into the community and listening to local people has already begun.

This week, Independent Chair Thom Lynch joined Rhys and the team at Dyfatty Junction for their Thursday afternoon session.

Alongside enjoying a great curry and one of Rhys’ famous lattes, the afternoon provided something much more important: time with people.

Thom met residents from across the area, people looking for support and others who want to help their community.

A Growing Community Hub in Dyfatty

Dyfatty Junction continues to develop as a welcoming local hub where people can connect and find support.

The team are already working alongside several organisations. These include medical teams, DWP and other local support services.

However, the heart of the Junction is simple. It provides a friendly place where people can walk through the door, meet others and feel connected to their community.

Tuesdays and Thursdays are currently key days at Dyfatty Junction, with Thursday afternoons offering an opportunity to enjoy food, coffee and conversation.

The team also hopes to grow its presence and work alongside even more community organisations in the future.

Listening Before We Plan

For North Gate Swansea Pride in Place, visits like this will form an important part of the journey ahead.

We want to understand what people already love about their neighbourhoods. We also want to hear about the challenges they face, what’s missing and what could make North Gate Swansea even better.

A new community questionnaire is currently being developed. In addition, there will be many other opportunities to share ideas as our engagement work grows.

If you think North Gate Swansea needs a particular service, activity, project or opportunity, we want to hear from you.

Building the North Gate Swansea Neighbourhood Board

Meanwhile, work continues behind the scenes to establish the programme.

We are developing a small delivery team and building the new North Gate Swansea Neighbourhood Board.

The first full Board meeting is now scheduled for the first week of September 2026. We also expect to introduce the first new Board members over the coming weeks.

Until then, the current Board will continue getting out across the area, meeting people and learning from the communities we’re here to serve.

If you’ve visited Dyfatty Junction already, we’d love to hear about your experience. If you haven’t, why not pop in and meet the team?
